Big Tough Boy
Oh, Andrew you are such a big boy...always wanting to do what dad is doing. It is almost impossible to keep you inside while he is working outside. Whether it's scrubbing decks, cleaning cars, mowing the lawn or fixing things in the garage, you have to be right by his side doing exactly what he is doing. When did you get to be so old?
And don't even get me started on you Dominic! You are not the baby of the Kastl family anymore. It's fun watching Corbyn wear the same outfits that you wore just a few months ago.
Even though you are growing up so fast, in some ways you are still my little baby.
The funniest thing happened the other day. Andrew had a rough start to the morning. He was outside running around and fell, giving himself a bruised forehead and skinned up knee. Then came the tears and lots of drama! You would have thought he broke his leg because he refused to walk on it or move it the slightest bit. He sat in the same spot at the table for an hour while I was cleaning up from breakfast and then I picked him up and moved him to the carpet where he stayed for the next couple hours. He just sat quietly with his hand under his knee to support his leg. He didn't like it when I tried to make him walk.
At nap time I carried him to his crib and he laid there with his knee up to his chest. A few hours later I checked on him while he was sleeping and he still had not moved that leg! He did not walk until 6:00 that night.
It was the weirdest day. My son who doesn't stop moving and is always running away from me, didn't move all day. That made my job a lot easier. I didn't have to chase him back in the house over and over which gave me lots of extra time to clean all my windows. I got to enjoy clean windows with out fingerprints all day long! I don't think that's happened since he started walking!

Shhh...Don't Tell Andrew!
Someone thinks he's old enough to play with his brother's big boy toys! While Andrew was napping today Dominic went to town on his train set. It was so cute watching him try to put the track together.
Motherhood...My Most Precious Gift
My boys gave me the best Mother's Day gift this year. Before going in to mass, I said out loud to Jarod in a sigh of desperation, "the only thing I want for Mother's Day is for them to behave during church". You see, lately church has been a challenge. Andrew is an energetic two year old and Dominic is just entering the stage where he's squirming all the time and trying to eat the missalettes. It seems like church is one big juggling act and one of us usually spends a lot of time standing in the back. Well, today I got my wish!
My precious boys acted as sweet as they looked during mass! It was unbelievable! I was able to listen and pray and meditate on what a blessing motherhood has been. After mass they took me out for brunch and then we spent the rest of the day enjoying the outdoors.
It was such a gorgeous day so we spent a lot of time in our backyard. We enjoyed being serenaded by the baby birds that are in a nest under our deck and the cardinals who were singing in our trees. It was the most peaceful and relaxing afternoon. While the boys were napping Jarod went to work waxing my car while I made a quick trip to run some errands.
We ended the day grilling "the best burgers ever" that I found on Pintrest. Jarod got some help from grill master Andrew.
The burgers lived up to their name and helped make this "the best Mother's Day ever". I am so thankful that I get to be mom to these two beautiful boys and my Benedict in heaven.
Thank you Lord for the gift of motherhood.
